So here’s the deal, I posted the reference track to Rihanna’s “Stupid In Love” yesterday. The track is being pegged as one of the better offerings from “Rated R” (word to @TorrenceG). Personally, and this is just my humble, pretty brown eyed opinion, I think Schaffer C. Smith did his duty better than what RiRi had to offer.
I felt Ne-Yo’s vocals possessed more pain than Rihanna’s. Neither Rihanna or Ne-Yo are flawless in the vocal department, but whenever I hear his references for her tracks, his version always sits well with me.
Fast forward to today, I thought it would be interesting to put both Ne-Yo and Rihanna on the cut together. So I hit the big homey Dre from Nah Right and requested a lil bit of engineer work to make the “collabo” happen. I used to be an A&R back in my Howard University days, so it was pretty fun picking out how I wanted the song to sound.
Let me know your thoughts, please?

Make it a threesome and throw the Brandy version in there too…
Awesome post! It would have been cool if you had the acapella’s so you could harmonise the 2 voices!
