May 18, 2010 – New York, NY- Grammy-nominated, Aspire/ Young Money/ Cash Money recording artist Drake has extended his top selling The Away From Home Tour with additional US dates as well as European and Canadian dates. Drake kicked off the second leg of the tour with a trio of sold out shows in San Francisco, CA at the Warfield Theatre (45 minute sellout), Los Angeles, CA at the Nokia Theatre (12 minute sellout) and Denver, CO at the Ogden Theatre in addition to upcoming sold out shows in Philadelphia, PA at The Filmore (5 minute sellout) and a string of sold out shows in London.
Drake, who will open for Jay-Z at the MEN Arena in Manchester, UK on June 7th and at the LG Arena in Birmingham, UK on June 9th, will tour Europe and Canada through the month of July. Drake will also perform on the main stages of major European festivals including Hove, Roskilde and Wireless, independent of his solo tour. The tour will ultimately end with Drake’s own festival, the OVO Festival, whose lineup and location will be confirmed in the coming weeks on Drake’s blog, October’s Very Own.
Drake recently completed the college portion of The Away From Home Tour, a Campus Consciousness Tour, which featured performances by K-OS and Francis & The Lights. The college tour hit 23 campuses across the country, averaging 5,000 – 7,000 tickets a night. His performance at the Syracuse Block Party brought in 9,584 fans, making Drake the new record-holding headliner to perform on Syracuse University’s campus. During the college tour, Drake also performed at two festivals, including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Bamboozle East Rutherford.
The Away From Home Tour is Drake’s first solo tour for 2010 and first tour since his participation in the record breaking, blockbuster Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival headlined by Lil Wayne.
Drake’s heavily anticipated debut album Thank Me Later will be released on June 15, 2010. His current single, “Find Your Love”, is available on iTunes and the Anthony Mandler directed music video, starring dancehall artist Movado, is in rotation on all MTV outlets.
