VIDEO: Waka Flocka Flame Named #8 On MTV's Hottest MC's Of 2010 List

Ok, so here we have our first “WTF” moment. Not taking away from anything Waka Flocka has accomplished thus far in 2010, and ya’ll know I’m a huge Waka Flocka advocate but the basis of this man’s positioning was purely off those three songs (“O Let’s Do It”, “Hard In The Paint” & “No Hands”).

While I can’t argue with that claim, when this list was birthed, Flocka’s album had yet to be released (an album I still think wasn’t necessary). And if you remember last year, I went “Hard In The Paint” against Sherbert’s placing because he TOO didn’t have an album out. And what about his longevity? I know the list is 2010 based, so this probably cancels out this claim, but where’s the lasting power within Waka’s material? Shouldn’t that be a vital pillar when making a debut on one of these lists?

And like Steven Roberts said in the above clip, hip-hop is much more than a street audience. B.o.B. DID open for Jay-Z and Eminem for their Home To Home stadium tour and has charted THREE  #1′s on Billboard. Ahhhh this is a tough one. I’m torn. I need a Four Loko. And I’m telling you, if Fabolous is left off this list, he’s going to be the one chipping someone’s tooth lol. #DEADASS

Thoughts?

  1. These lists are a bunch of bullshit and this just proves it. There is NOTHING lyrical about Waka Flocka whatsoever. He has the great ability to get crunk on a dope track. (Yeah, I’m in Atlanta) But, that is just about all he has to offer.

Who’s next on the list 50 Tyson?

  2. Their whole Waka position was based around…..”when you play it in the club” so that means you’re going to say that only 7 other artists in the game are hotter then him???? I think this was for shock value.

  3. the list is called hottest MC’s not hottest club hits or best street cred. BoB’s lyrical genius dates back way before his album and pop chart premier. DAMN YOU VTM

  4. I think they’re right. The category is for who’s the hottest rapper right now and not who’s the best. Waka’s lyrics aren’t the best and his content isn’t the most creative but his shit get played all over the place. He put out some big records with universal appeal.

But then again too, I think these lists are not safe from industry politics (i.e. we gotta put Waka in the top 10 to keep the relationship going). Or, I wouldn’t be surprised if labels flat out purchased these rankings for their artists.

  5. I ithink the people who’s making the list is basing everything off the year that they’re having. But Fab had a niCeeee year too. I’m not understanding how Waka made the list, especially that high above Luda and B.O.B.

At least MTV’s list is better than BET’s. . hahahaa!

  6. i agree with you man,and Fabolous isint on the list lol cause he was on the honorable mention at the beginning of the show including WIZ among some of the names which i have since forgotten lol
