Last night The Diplomats hit the Hammerstein Ballroom stage to once again form the monster that was created on 140th & Lenox some odd years ago. In true Diplomat form, Jim Jones, Cam’ron, Freakey and Juelz all brought their A-Game and put on for their city. I could go in and break the show down limb from limb, but it’s 5am and my eyes are blood red (see what I did there?).
Each member of the crew had their own set. Freak’s set was short lived. Jones’ set was somewhat drawn out, but his advocates were strong in numbers. However, it was Juelz and Killa who captivated the crowd the most. Juelz’s commercial hits reigned supreme throughout, but it was Cam’s cult like following that kept us bopping back and forth. Not to mention the heartfelt tribute to fallen comrade, Huddy 6.
Every song ever recorded by these four gentlemen, THEY performed. And they performed it well. One thing is for sure, until you see these guys perform “Dipset Anthem” LIVE? You haven’t been to a hip-hop show. Guests included Black Rob, a guitar toting Ryan Leslie, Vado, J.R. Writer, and Hell Rell. Photos from the show, below!
Big shouts to Matthew “Mateo” Rajkumar of Mateo Productions and HOT 97 for assembling such a great show!
