Video: MTV Artist To Watch In 2011: Miguel

December 29, 2010 |  by  |  INTERVIEWS, VIDEOS  |  No Comments  |  Share  |

Miguel is ready for 2011. The J.Records rookie has already toured with Mary J. Blige and is currently the opening act on Usher’s ‘OMG Tour.” But the success for Miguel came when he liberated the submissive “All I Want Is You” offering featuring J.Cole that dominated Urban radio for a lengthy period of time (it’s actually still holding court as we speak).

MTV sits down with Miguel and digs inside the mind of 2011′s candidate for R&B’s Rookie Of The Year.

Miguel’s All I Want Is You LP is in stores now.

Video: Tinie Tempah: “We’re All Trying To Have Our Own Roc Nation.”

December 29, 2010 |  by  |  INTERVIEWS, VIDEOS  |  No Comments  |  Share  |

British rapper Tinie Tempah just might be 2011′s wild card pick for Rookie of the Year. Early in November, Mr. Carter expressed interest in bringing Tinie to the Roc Nation fold which not only increased the demand for Tinie’s material but also side swiped Tinie himself. But don’t get it twisted, Tinie was already popping before the Hov co-sign.

His smash single “Pass Out” was nominated four times in 2010 (Best Song and Best Video @ The BT Digital Music Awards, Best Song @ The Mobo Awards, Best Collaboration @ The Urban Music Awards). He won Best Collaboration for the track at The Urban Music Awards.

I recently took a trip up to Capitol Records HQ’s to talk with Tinie about getting his footing right in the US, the unexpected success of “Pass Out”, why NYC is the crucial place to make an impression and much more. But, in the clip above we address the elephant in the room: Jay-Z’s unexpected co-sign.

Rhymefest ft. Killer Mike – Super Guy

December 28, 2010 |  by  |  MUSIC  |  No Comments  |  Share  |

Ill let Andrew from FSD explain the back story on this one..

Here’s a joint of unknown origin from Rhymefest and one of my favorite emcees, Killer Mike. I’m not exactly sure when or where this joint was recorded (or for what project), but I’m guessing it was long before Fest’s bid for rapping Alderman. Mike and Che trade bars while playing the roles of their favorite superheroes, and tossing around some slurs and slanders throughout. It’s a super track.
