You know what’s funny? That statement about Lloyd Banks not downloading a single file of music in his life isn’t far fetched. Don’t ask me why I think that, but I do. As previously stated, this month Team VIBE put together probably one of the greatest music surveys of how today’s consumer’s take in their music.
For this post, we have Lloyd Banks giving his preference on his music consumption and the downloading of unauthorized leaks of his fellow rap comrades. Check out what he had to say, below!
“I’ve never downloaded anything in my life, even the mixtapes. I don’t buy things over the computer. I probably would If I knew how to do it, but I’m old fashioned. The physical copy just means a little more- it’s something I can hold on to. It’s like when you buy a pair of sneakers, you don’t need the shoe box, but it looks good when you stack it up.”
The February/March issue of VIBE hits newsstands this week.

Not sure if this will live on Kevin’s B.A.M. (By Any Means) mixtape, but I guess it’ll hold us over until the release of the project. The Runners on the board.

Hold up, Ciara wrote an open letter to Jive last week pleading for a release? Where was I? Lol. Dah well. During Jay-Z and Lebron’s 2 Kings Dinner this weekend Rap-Up caught up with CiCi and inquired about the composition to Jive. Seems like CiCi couldn’t find her footing with the response. As for her next move, looks like things are at a stand still until those contracts are signed. Good luck, Ciara.

Lloyd Banks: “The Game Has Turned Into A Singles Game Where You Drop A Single & Make A Dance To It.”
Lloyd Banks is starting to understand the dynamics of becoming a successful solo artist. With Hunger For More 2, Banks’ third solo effort being pegged as legitimate piece of work in a climate where quality music is scarce, the Queens native is reminding the hip-hop community as to why he should be mentioned in our daily “Top 5 Dead Or Alive” discussions.
Andreas Hale over at TheWellVersed sat with Banks to see where the G-Unit soldier’s mindset is headed next. Banks talks receiving lyrical praise from Kanye, working his project with an independent conglomerate instead of a major, funding “Beamer Benz Or Bentley” on his own, whether or not he’ll continue on with Hunger For More series and the G-Unit brand.
Below, Banks speaks on how today’s approach in making music is purely for the “single” success and dance moves that are birthed from those contagious singles. But instead, Lloyd feels catering to different lanes will make the cipher complete on his projects. Check it out.
The game turned into a singles game where you just drop your single and make a dance to it and go. But then you have artists like myself who can put together a whole album to where 1-14 tracks on the record will have a different feel. One record might be towards the females, one is about my neighborhood, one is a concept record, then you have a weed record, a drunk record, you got an in love record, and you got a fuck a girl record. It has to be every kind of thing in order to make it a classic.
