Think Drake x Curren$y x Beanie Siegel x Pink Floyd. No, I’m not saying that to catch your attention. I get a good amount of people asking me to post their music everyday in my inbox and twitter. I don’t get enough time to check everything, for the most part I listen though. This man, Ryshon Jones, has caught my attention. At only 19 the Philly emcee is more than ready to grow into a permanent fixture in the game. He just sounds like he gets it. This rap thing comes natural, you either have it or you don’t, and this kid does. With old soul, dark melodic slow jams, samples you would never expect a kick drum over and even acapella’s at times, “The Lower I Fall, The Higher I Aim” is on another level. Take the line “Jumpin’ out a plane with no parachute, I’m fallin high, suicide in my second life, I feel so alive” on “No Parashoot” for example. No, I mean take it. Go try to find me something else like this anywhere. Do not nap on this. I am telling y’all this kid is something else. This is spiritual warfare on wax right here. As he put’s it…
The Lower I Fall The Higher I Aim: the war between good and bad, heaven and hell, doubt and belief..Falling High,if you truly want something you never stop, the more adversity knocks you down, the higher you reach for you goals. The Cover represents heaven falling from the sky and hell rising from the ground through her heart
Enjoy.
