Dear Reader, Let’s Talk (Day 10)
Nope, don’t even do it. You know what I’m talking about. Yes…the same damn thing you did yesterday…DON’T DO IT AGAIN. You’re probably wondering why I’m yelling at you from my blog lol? Well, here’s the reason…it’s time for a change.
Look at you, ready to slide to the next post because you’re just so sure that LowKey knows not a thing about what you’re going through in ANY part of your life. And you’re right, I don’t know you from a hole in the wall. However, I DO know if you’re on this page right now? It’s not by accident. And if you’ve been a faithful follower of the UHTN campaign for the past couple of years? WE, yes me AND you, share some similarities….and not just within the hip-hop culture.
Just like you, I don’t embrace change that well. You know why? Because it drags us away from the norm that we’ve grown accustom to. Oh yes it the fuck does. Fuck NO im not willing to try a new meal when I go to Shake Shack! I want my regular: Cheeseburger, Cheese Fries and a Black & White Shake. No one has time to be “different” when I’m trying to catch my 1am bus back to Jersey….hell you think THIS is lol? But why? Why not switch it up? Why not embrace a different avenue so your taste buds can stop encountering the same ol BULLSHIT? Well, not bullshit…you must like it for a reason lol. But you get my point.
Oh it’s not just food, though. What about that job you’re at right now? Counting down the hours until you can post that “It’s Friday, FUCK SCHOOL” picture on Instagram and hit the bar around the corner for happy hour? Maybe it’s time to switch that shit up too. Bet you’ve been feeling stagnant and complacent this Summer, haven’t you? Mumbling “I need a change of scenery” to yourself every now and then but didn’t have the balls to do so because….? No, you tell me…go head. Oh, you don’t even have a reason huh? Damn shame.
Or what about this one…still dealing with same ol NUT ass men/women you’ve been dealing with for how long? But you’re ok with dealing with the same bullshit because you don’t wanna get hurt or waste your time with something new. Understandable. But to completely rule out change in that department is asinine. Don’t you feel like you deserve better? You have to be tired of going through the motions with him/her just because they are there. Yes I know you’re attractive. Yes I know you have the latest pair of Red Bottoms on. Yes I know you just bought a couple bottles and have your own table at the best nightspot in the city. I get it. Trust me, I do. But maybe you’re attracting the same type of people because you’re doing the SAME type of shit? No? I’m thinking too left field? Ok, you got me. Keep doing the same shit.
Listen, I’m no better than ANY of you. I’m doing the same DUMB shit just like you and even asking myself why I’m not getting better results. But like I’ve always told ya’ll, you’re going through this strange but interesting transition with me. And I’d LOVE to spark some change for you too. It’s not going to happen all at once. Nope, sure won’t..but at LEAST it’s starting…somewhere. Start small. For instance, if you’re always waiting for someone to reach out to YOU to hang out? Switch it up, give them a call…”Sup son? Let’s hang out tonight.”
If you’re always asking her/him to go out and spend time? Fall the fuck back. Disappear. VANISH. If they value your time and personality? They’ll come running when that phone stops ringing. T.R.U.S.T. M.E.! Hate that job you’re at don’t you? Ok, well here’s a good suggestion: pitch some ideas for that upcoming project. Yes…THAT project. If you can’t find NO excitement withing that task? Well sir/maam, YO ass needs a change in occupation. That’s ok, though. At least you TRIED to fix the issue instead of letting the stench grow. Trust me, other folks can SMELL when you’re miserable. It’s not good.
Like I said, it’s starts small. Don’t force it either…just let happen. My only job was to put the thought in your head since nobody else did. Hell, pass it to them…they might need it more than you. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go get ready for this launch event for a new show on the O Network (Oprah’s channel) for this guy named Paul Brunson. Yeah, never heard of him until today. See…….CHANGE! But I’m still wearing Camo shorts and Chuck Taylors. YES I AM!
Low “Ain’t nothing wrong with a little bit of change.” Key
