It’s Friday and the weekend is finally here. Well, today is more than just your typical Friday…today NY legend Big L would’ve turned 40 years old. When it comes to being a MC and a RAPPER, there are few artists that match Lamont Coleman. In honor of Big L, I’ve decided to post his “Stretch & Bobbito” freestyle from 1998 even though most of you have probably heard it. Why? Because this freestyle really embodies everything I love about his music. Originality and style? Check. Lyrical? Check. Flow? Check. Punchlines? Check. Delivery? Check.

Throughout the whole freestyle he MURDERS it! At the 2:08 mark he shows off his insane flow while still making every word understandable. Every time I listen to Big L’s music it’s like listening to it for the first time. No one knows what would’ve happened further down his career but it’s truly a tragedy that Big L died at age 24. However, today we celebrate his life.

Quotables from the freestyle:
“From New York but never was a fan of the Knicks”
“Mad hoes, ask Beavis I get nothing Butt-Head”
“If my girl think I’m loyal then that bitch is a fool”
“How come you listen to my first album and tell where a lot of n*ggas got they whole style from”
“I ran through every b*tch in my path, I was f*ckin chicks in the ass when I was six and a half”
