With plenty of dope music already released this year with more than half of it to go, Chase delivers a 13-track beat tape for our listening, or rapping, pleasure. Check the tracklist and grab the download after the break.
Most people don’t know Mac has always had an inkling for beats because it obviously wasn’t his strong suit, at least compared to rapping. Now that we’ve seen instrumental after instrumental hit the ‘net under his Larry Fisherman moniker, he finally decides to release a collection of beats, 8 to be exact, and he titled it Run-On Sentences Vol. 1. You’ll also find a bonus verse from the Most Dope leader. Head below to download the project.
You may not be familiar with Major, but he’s a producer on the rise from Detroit. He’s been putting in plenty of work and I’ll leave it to him to explain the rest..
“The Not A Beat Tape production compilation series is exactly what the title says, not a beat tape. Over the last few years I’ve backlogged thousands of beats and now it’s time to give you a little taste of what I’ve been cooking up in the lab. So, basically I plan on giving you a whole series of beat compilations and when the time is right I’ll give y’all a REAL beat tape with all NEW productions.”
Head below to check out the tape!
The saturday after his passing eLiMenCe & I went through his extensive catalog, sampling just a small fraction of it to create this beat tape in celebration of his life’s work, and in remembrance of the late jazz musician.
We completed the EP by Saturday night and it is the only one of its kind. Donald Byrd was one of the first musicians i have ever sampled over 10 years ago, as a 14 year old kid. He is a legend in the hip hop world sampled time and time again by anybody from Nas, A tribe called quest, Large Professor, Common, Pete Rock and 2Pac to Action Bronson, Smoke Dza & SlaughterHouse, as well as collaborating with the late Guru of Gang Starr on the Jazzmatazz series.
There aren’t too many well-known Mid-Western producers out there, but we’ve got one just for you. Representing Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ackryte is bringing it up in the beginnings of 2013 with his most recent EP, Lifted Transmissions. Ackryte has developed his own distinct sounds of jazzy swings and bumpin’ blues that frequent his tracks. Unlike most downtempo beat producers, he avoids the obvious groove-loop path. Instead, he takes the black diamond hill approach of creating progressive beats while pushing the comfort levels of the typical beat. Within Lifted Transmissions, you’ll find a generous amount of soothing piano backed with eclectic electronic effects and synths. There is audible sense of equilibrium between modesty and obvious showmanship of talent if you listen closely. Ackryte fuses easy-listening beats with forward-thinking style in his own right. If someone said to you to go live out your vehicle, how would you respond? More than likely it would be a swift reply with two words and the second word being off. B. Durazzo on the other hand, all he needs is his van. He hops behind the wheel and travels the USA digesting all the sights and inspiring things he see’s, and then hopping in the back and turning them inspirations into beats. Yerp, you got it right, he travels USA in his van and creates some nice instrumentals out of it. Here is the outcome of his latest set of work. Nice.
The instrumental mixtapes keep flooding in and this time it’s from Suhnraw. I have no info on where has is from but I know the likes of Madlib, J.Dilla, 9thWonder, !LLMind, M-Phazes, Kev Brown, Oddisee, DJPremier, Pete Rock, Ayatollah, Apollo Brown & Flying Lotus are what inspires his sounds. You can definitely hear them influences come through his production. His new instrumental project which is fittingly titled Beat Addict can be streamed below or purchased over at his Bandcamp page.
When I first started posting instrumental projects back when I had my own site Al Patron was one of the first dudes I showed love too. With me being the instrumental mixtape man around these parts it was only right I continued to show him love for his craftsmanship. This tape was actually released back on New Years Eve but it was just re-brought to my attention, I have the memory span of a fucking goldfish I tell ya! Better late than never though right? Yerp. Al Patron grew up in Seoul, South Korea and California and you can really tell he has two cultures in him when he lays his work down on the boards, that’s what I love, there is so much creativity laced onto every beat, it’s like he pours his heart and soul onto every beat. This project features 19 tracks which are all short and sweet, oh so fucking sweet. Dopeness, trust me folks.
More instrumental dopeness, this time it comes from Mississippi based Sir Flywalker. Already working with the likes of Curren$y, Dom O Briggs, Nemo Achida, J NiC$, Trademark, StreetWiz, Nesby Phips, and many more 2013 holds much more for the young man. He kicks it off with this, a eight track EP full of funky shit.
One thing is for sure you folks can’t complain that we don’t give you enough instrumental projects. This time around it’s from Pittsburgh native Dan Status. He dropped this back in the middle of December but it recently just came to my attention how FUCKING DOPE this project is. This got some fucking heat on it.
