However, one of my followers made me aware of its existence and ya’ll know how I feel about beat tapes anyway. These instrumentals are from Breezy’s previous mixtapes as well as Kevin’s. So if you’ve been following McCall? These should sound familiar. But don’t fret, if you’re not totally familiar with homey, I’m going to give you the hottest beat (not counting “Deuces”, in my opinion, and you can judge from that whether or not the boy has skill. I was looking around and no one has been offering any outlet to producers lately on mainstream sites. Production is 70% of a song these days, so I figure let’s get some instrumental action on YHTN. Tomorrow we’ll do a New Years beat battle. Here’s the deal:
- Producers of the world submit two (2) of your beats in MP3 format to beats@youheardthatnew.com
- They have to be submitted by Midnight EST on December 29th, 2011 (Today).
- I will listen to all of them (for real I promise) and will pick 5 beats by 5 different producers for the YHTN readership to vote on tomorrow.
- The voting will last all weekend and the winner will be announced at Noon EST on Monday, January 2nd.
- The 1st place winner will get a $25 iTunes or Amazon Giftcard (Winner’s Pick) and automatically get his or her beat placed in the next competition.
- 2nd place will probably get clowned in the comments.
- 3rd place should just be happy to be here.

I took some time off to work on upcoming projects with DJ RTC, Vic Mensa, and Action Bronson so 2012 is looking up. Yet, before the year is up I wanted to give a preview of what’s to come. DMNDS includes a few remixes showcasing the talents of the New Jersey crew Tastemakers NJ, and a few unreleased beats. Meet Frankie P, a Washington Heights producer gearing up to release his instrumental LP titled Hazy Nights In The Heights dropping October 10th. The first night, I’m using “night” to replace “track” because of the name of the project and by the sounds of these joints, they take you through specific nights evoking certain emotions is titled “Bodega Dreams.”
Frankie’s Saxsaphone serves as a tour guide for your nightly trip to the Bodega with the kicks and snares distinctively pointing out all the action on the BLVD. The keys/bass massage the cluttered thoughts of your daily stress while the finger snaps represent the eye candy that floats by every other second. If you’ve been to the Heights, this should description should sit well with you. If not, take a trip up there with this instrumental playing.

The intro on this ALONE had a disgusting bounce to the point it could’ve been a song within itself. This lived on The Nutty Professor soundtrack, but in my opinion should’ve been an album cut. This shit was waaaaaay to good to be a soundtrack. Man, Timbo was a beast back then. And the video? Remember Dame’s drunk ass running around shirtless chasing them round bottoms?
